Report: The four brutal words Spurs told Pochettino about manager vacancy
The Daily Star have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur told Mauricio Pochettino in no uncertain terms that he is not in contention to replace Antonio Conte.
Pochettino transformed the Spurs side in his first spell at the club, even elevating the club into title contenders for a two-year spell.
Unsurprisingly, the Argentine, who has been without work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain has been linked with a fairytale return to N17 over the last few weeks (The Athletic).
TYC Sports reported a couple of days ago that the 51-year-old might turn down Spurs’ approach in favour of joining Real Madrid in the summer.
However, if The Daily Star’s latest update is to be believed, it is Tottenham who have turned down Pochettino rather than the other way around.
The report claims that when the former Spurs manager was told ‘thanks but no thanks’ regarding his interest in the role.
The publication adds that Tottenham have shortlisted Julian Nagelsmann, Vincent Kompany, Thomas Frank and Arne Slot as the candidates to take over from Conte.

One can understand why the Spurs hierarchy might have some reservations about bringing Pochettino back as one can argue that the Argentine’s coaching career is not on an upward trajectory at the moment.
However, I believe that Daniel Levy will want to keep that option open in case other candidates prove out of reach.
I certainly do not expect the Spurs chairman to have completely closed the door on the 51-year-old.
