Giant ads on trucks warn motorists of HGV blindspots

0

A National Highways road safety campaign is using a network of hauliers to raise motorists' awareness of HGVs' blindspots by using giant safety warnings on the back of a host of lorries plying up and down the UK's motorways.

The campaign is a collaboration between National Highways, media company ADriver and its network of hauliers.

It follows research commissioned by National Highways which found that 36% of people say
that they do not know how many blind spots an HGV has.

Drivers will be reminded whilst on the motorway and passing an HGV, exactly what the zones are through the Motorway Mega Rear campaign, which uses an ad display area measuring almost 4m2.

ADriver calculates that the ads on the back of each truck are visible to oncoming traffic for at least 15 seconds before they need to overtake.

Research by ADriver shows that motorists and their passengers are highly receptive to messages seen on their Motorway Mega Rears.

Daemon Brown, managing director of Adriver UK, said: “Advertising through hauliers on our Motorway Mega Rears represents the opportune moment for National Highways to reinforce their incredibly important safety messaging.

"We are delighted that our platform can be used this way to help raise awareness of HGV visibility zones whilst supporting the haulage industry at the same time.”
