My cat is set to be crowned the world’s oldest moggie – here’s the secret to her long life

A MOGGIE taken in as a rescue kitten in 1991 is in line to be crowned the world’s oldest living cat.

Rosie, a fluffy-tailed tortoise-shell, is due to celebrate her 32nd birthday on June 1.

She has been taken to see a vet only twice in her life and now whiles away her days dozing in the window of Lila Brissett’s first-floor flat in Norwich.

Widow Lila, 72, said Rosie must be older than Flossie, a 27-year-old cat recognised as the world’s oldest by Guinness World Records.

But asked why she thought Rosie had lived to such a grand old age, Lila replied: “You tell me! Care and attention? Good food? I don’t know.”

Lila took in Rosie as a kitten when her previous owners’ daughter was found to be allergic to cats.

She is a cross between a ginger and a ragdoll, giving her a gloriously fluffy tail.

Lila added: “She’s quite a character. She’s still got all her teeth. I’ll miss her when she goes but I’ll never have her put down.”

Guinness World Records said: “We would encourage Lila to make an application for Rosie via our website.”
