Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson from the BJP, Darakhshan Andrabi had said that if weather permits, this year Eid prayers will be offered at Eidgah in Srinagar as there is a good atmosphere in Kashmir now. The last Eid prayers were held at the Eidgah before the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. The administration remains fearful of anti-government protests following the prayers as has happened on several occasions in the past.
