Todd Boehly, the American businessman who led the $2.5 billion purchase of Chelsea, is facing challenges in his first year as the face of the club's new leadership. After investing an unprecedented $630m in the team over the past two transfer windows to bring in young players, Chelsea is languishing at 11th place in the Premier League and has just sacked its manager, Graham Potter. The club may also miss out on the €80m ($87m) it typically earns by playing in the Champions League. Apart from this, the contracts for many of the team's new signings have stretched over 8.5 years.
