In recent heavy rains and flash floods, at least one person was dead, and more than ten others were injured in the Bangi District of Afghanistan’s northeast Takhar province, according to local officials.

Heavy rains and flood killed one person and hurt more than ten others in the Bangi District of Takhar province, said Qari Mohibullah Nikzad, director for information and culture, on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, he added that the natural disaster had human and financial losses. The flash flood destroyed several houses and damaged thousands of acres of agricultural land.

The last two weeks were the deadliest regarding natural disasters in Afghanistan. More than 21 people died, and over 100 people were injured due to heavy rains, floods, earthquakes and avalanches, officials said.

On the other hand, more than 2625 residential houses were damaged, hundreds of livestock perished, and almost 30,000 acres of farmlands were destroyed due to the natural hazards across the country.

The country is hit by massive natural disasters yearly with considerable losses, including human and financial losses. This year more than 30 provinces of the country suffered due to the hazards, and several people lost their properties and farmlands amid a humanitarian crisis.

Meanwhile, the people are severely affected since the country’s infrastructure and administration are poor and cannot respond immediately to natural disasters.
