Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) has decreased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 8 per Kg and domestic piped natural gas (DPNG) by Rs 5 per standard cubic metre (SCM). This move by the company came after the Indian government revised the pricing methodology of domestically produced natural gas to increase the consumption of natural gas in domestic and transportation segments. The reduced price of CNG will be Rs 79 per Kg and Domestic PNG will be Rs 49 per SCM, effective from midnight of 7 April, 2023, providing significant savings compared to petrol, diesel, and domestic LPG.
