I’m a bargain-loving-queen but shop at M&S – here’s how I live my cheap-skate life but get the best quality food
WHILE M&S isn’t known for being the cheapest place to buy food, one woman has cracked the code on doing her weekly shop there without breaking the bank.
Describing herself as a ‘Bargain Queen’, Larrissa shared a clip on her TikTok to explain the simple trick she has to getting quality food on the cheap.
“If you don’t know, I do my food shop at M&S because I think it’s good quality and f***ing good prices,” [sic] she started her video off.
She continued: “I want to come to you lot – friend to friend – with a little tip, okay? A little tip… Money saving tip. This morning I done my food shop on Ocado…”
Explaining that it’s not an advert for the company, she went on: “So Ocado is essentially the company which delivers M&S food. So you get a Tesco delivery but you get Ocado for M&S, yeah. Up to speed? Fabulous.
“So I got an email through from Ocado, saying, ‘Get 30 percent off your shop, minimum spend £40 and free delivery’.
“Now, maximum savings you can get of this 30 percent is £25. So if you’re spending £75, you get your food shop for £50, right?
“I done a food shop for like a hundred and something pounds, but then I got it down to… I think it was £68. I’m 99 percent sure it’s £68 from £101.
“Obviously, I got the f***ing bargains, because seeing me yeah, I’m such a cheap-skate. But I don’t even care.”
TikTok user @princesslarrissa1 explained that when she searches for the foods she wants, like courgette or hummus, she always lists them from low prices to high.
“I want to see where the bargains are,” she said. “I want to see where the discounts are. And when you’re shopping online, you can really see what you’re spending, what you’re buying, what the cheapest options are…
“Because when you’re in the shop, you just fling it all in and when it comes to the checkout, it comes with a big price.
“But when you do it online, you can really see what you want and put back what you don’t want. It’s not impulsive on the app.”
Larrissa said she wasn’t suggesting for people to get every person in the household to sign up for the emails to get 30 percent off, but added it “would be a good idea”.
“I got about eight meals,” she said. “I got salmon, I got steak, I got this, I got that… Trust me.”
In the caption, she added: “How to save them COINSSS on your food shop”.
Viewers loved Larrissa’s post and took to the comments section to speak out on her tip as one person wrote: “Can confirm that doing this worked out cheaper than Lidl/Aldi AND the food was better quality. Banging deal. Really surprised me how much good I got”.
Larrissa replied: “The quality is so much better”.
Another shared: “Ocado almost always have 20% off first orders too! Just use a diff email each time lol”.
A third said they were “influenced” by her video as a fourth wrote: “Ocado convert here!! Every delivery has been so smooth, so many things on deals too. Bye Tesco”.
