One person extricated, seriously injured in Rocky Hill car crash

One person was seriously injured in a car crash involving entrapment in Rocky Hill late Tuesday.

The victim has been listed in stable condition and is expected to survive after being involved in a crash on Dividend Road near Forest Street at about 9:27 p.m., according to the Rocky Hill Police Department.

Police said it appeared the victim, who was driving a Toyota SUV, was headed south on Dividend Road before veering off the road and striking an unoccupied commercial vacuum truck, which was parked at a construction company. Firefighters said the two vehicles became heavily entangled, which led to firefighters needing about 35 minutes to get the victim out of the SUV and into an ambulance before being taken to an area hospital. A hose line was deployed as a precaution during the extrication, firefighters said.
