Three juveniles detained after crashing stolen vehicle into Meriden home
Three juveniles were charged after hitting multiple vehicles in a stolen car and crashing into a home in Meriden on Friday, police said.
Meriden police responded to the area of Harrison and Elm streets around 12:45 p.m. Friday on a report of a car crashing into a house.
Before crashing into the home, officers learned the driver of the vehicle crashed into another car on Elm Street, causing that driver to sustain minor injuries, police said. The driver then fled south on Elm Street, hit another other vehicle and blew through the intersection of Elm Street at Harrison Street without stopping, according to police.
As he drove across Harrison Street, police said, the car went off the road and struck the home on the other side of the intersection. The driver and two other people in the car ran from the scene on foot. Police eventually took all three suspects, identified only as juvenile males, into custody after setting up a perimeter and conducting a K-9 track.
During the investigation, police learned that the car was stolen out of Wallingford earlier Friday.
Residents were at the home at the time of the crash, but no one was injured, police said. The home did sustain significant damage as a result of the crash, according to police.
All three juveniles are facing charges ranging from interfering, reckless endangerment, motor vehicle larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny as well as other motor vehicle offenses.
Two of the three juveniles were released to their parents, while the driver was admitted to a juvenile detention center, police said.
