In September 2022, Shah in a meeting with BJP leaders had given them a target of the party getting 150 seats. In the two and a half hour long meeting, Shah told the 13 member BJP Mumbai core Committee that the party should dethrone the Shiv Sena (Uddhav) group's hold in the civic body and should have its own Mayor.
