Inside Ed Sheeran’s party for wife Cherry’s 30th including free-flowing champagne and photobooth
FANS hoping to get a bite at Ed Sheeran’s restaurant were out of luck – after he closed it for a very special event.
The Eyes Closed singer threw wife Cherry a lavish 30th birthday bash at Bertie Blossoms in London’s Notting Hill — with family and close friends in attendance.
A source said: “Ed and Cherry are a low-key couple but he wanted to put on something special for her big day.
“He closed down Bertie’s and threw Cherry a bash.
“Ed had ordered loads of pink balloons and decorated the entire place. He had a photo booth installed in the bar, too, so that Cherry could have pictures with her guests.
“The champagne was flowing and Ed made sure that the bar was fully stocked so everyone could order whatever they wanted.
“It was a really special night for Cherry, and Ed looked chuffed with himself when they finally left at around midnight.”
Ed and Cherry, who wore coordinating black outfits to the meal, married in January 2019 and have since had two daughters, Lyra, now two, and baby Jupiter.
While Cherry has supported Ed in all of his musical endeavours, he has been a solid constant by her side and is a regular fixture at the keen hockey player’s matches.
One to remember
The last time I caught up with Ed he made it clear how besotted he is with his wife.
She recently gained a masters degree from Cambridge in sustainable business — which she began studying just before giving birth to Lyra in August 2020.
Ed told me: “I’m really proud of Cherry as a mother. She’s such an incredible human. I’m just in awe.
“She did a whole Cambridge degree which she started two weeks before giving birth.
“I went to her graduation at Jesus College and people were saying, ‘How did she do this with a baby?’ ”
Given Ed’s successes, it’s fair to say they are both pretty superhuman.
Happy birthday, Cherry. It sounds like it was one to remember.
Silver scream, Jake?
SCISSOR SISTERS singer Jake Shears has a phobia of cinemas – ever since a ghostly encounter when he worked in one.
The Arizona-born singer said: “I find them very mysterious places. I worked in a haunted movie theatre when I was in high school and college.

“We were closing down and I went up to the balcony and was looking for my manager, and suddenly it felt like someone poured ice water down my back.
“I was absolutely terrified and started running. It was the weirdest thing.”
’Ella of an outfit, Charli
COACHELLA is always star-studded, and so was Charli XCX’s outfit as she performed there.
She took to the main stage at the California music festival on Saturday in this black PVC leotard and was joined by fellow singer Troye Sivan for a performance of their hit 1999.
It was a poignant moment for Charli, who only last week celebrated the tenth anniversary of her debut album True Romance.
She wrote on Instagram: “Wow. Ten years of True Romance. This album – that initially not many people heard but quite a few people grew to adore – was the beginning of everything for me.
“The beginning of discovering myself as a person – my voice, my confidence, my style, how big I could make my hair, how I moved on stage.
“I’m happy it played out like this because really I needed time to evolve and learn.”
I THINK the surgery Liam Gallagher had to sort out his hips might have affected his memory.
The former Oasis frontman hit back at fans who asked if he would ever play Coachella.
Branding the festival “nonsense”, Liam added: “I wouldn’t play that pretend festival no matter how much they paid me.”
They must have forked out an awful lot back in 2002, as that is when Liam and his brother Noel headlined the event in the US with a 13-song setlist.
It wasn’t “nonsense” then, I’m sure.
MAE MULLER is wowing the opposition on a European tour before Eurovision next month.
The Brit, who will represent the UK with I Wrote A Song, sang in Amsterdam at a warm-up gig on Saturday.
Then last night she was back home to perform at the London Eurovision Party, where several other frontrunners including Sweden’s Loreen and Finland’s Kaarija also appeared.
She is quickly becoming a favourite among Eurovision fans but faces tough competition ahead of the final in Liverpool on May 13.
TV docu for Dubz
EVERY Tom, Dick and Harry are making documentaries at the moment, and N-Dubz are the latest to jump on the TV bandwagon.
I’ve learned that the trio, consisting of Dappy, Fazer and Tulisa, are currently making their own one-off film following their comeback tour last year.
My music insider said: “The group are in front of the cameras talking all about their experience of a rapid rise to fame and much more.
“They are opening up about all the past controversies, too – including Dappy being a wrong ’un, and what led to their split.”
From 2007 to 2011 N-Dubz had a string of hits including I Need You, Playing With Fire and Number 1.
Since completing their reunion tour, they have been working on their first album since 2010’s Love.Live.Life – with cameras following the process of making the record.
They have signed a two-album deal and are expected to debut new music later this year, with the documentary to follow that.
The group are yet to find a buyer for the film, but are hoping it will eventually be picked up by a streaming giant such as Netflix or Prime Video.
That could give them a healthy little pay day, but I can think of other things I’d rather tune in to.
SHE grafted away for years before finally securing her first No1 single with Escapism last December.
Now I can reveal Raye is trying to break America by teaming up with up-and-coming US rapper Coi Leray.
The pair have worked together for a new track called Flip A Switch.
My insider said: “Raye and her team are still drawing up exact release plans but the track will drop late May.
“Both she and Coi Leray are really on a great trajectory and think teaming up on Flip A Switch is the perfect way to gain fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
“Raye knows cracking America is a huge task but the past decade has shown she is determined to put in the hours and work her way to the top.”
A version of the song without Coi Leray appears on Raye’s debut album My 21st Century Blues.
It’s one thing to hit the big time in the UK but the States is a totally different ballgame.
Lew’s ‘loony snap
HE was a sight for sore eyes last week after stripping off and posing in front of a golf buggy on a local fairway.
And now Brits winner Lewis Capaldi is at it again.
This time the Someone You Loved singer took his top off to pose by a balloon wall to promote new single Wish You The Best.
Lewis shared the snap on Twitter and told his 1.4million followers: “I want to make you soaking wet. Your eyes, that is. Listen to Wish You The Best and feel yourself moisten.”
If you say so, Lew.
