Missouri Man, 85, Hit With Felony Charges in Shooting of Black Teen
The white Kansas City homeowner who wounded Ralph Yarl, a 16-year-old honors student shot twice after going to the wrong house while trying to pick up his younger siblings, will face two felony charges in the matter, prosecutors said Monday.
The 85-year-old was identified as Andrew Lester by Clay County Prosecutor Zachary Thompson in a Monday press conference. A warrant had been issued for Lester’s arrest, according to the prosecutor.
“There was a racial component to the case,” Thompson said, but did not elaborate.
