Man United risk losing Jude Bellingham transfer race, signing a striker top-priority - report
Manchester United cannot spend extravagantly in the summer window as they could be at risk of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.
The Red Devils are hunting for a world-class midfielder and a striker. However, signing marquee players in both positions in one transfer window might put them under the FFP scanner.
According to Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy, the Red Devils are unlikely to get into a bidding war for Jude Bellingham as their priority is to enhance their attack.
Borussia Dortmund won’t allow Bellingham to depart for less than £115-120 million.
The most prominent European clubs want to sign the 19-year-old, which could lead to a bidding war for the player.
Signing a striker is a top priority for Man United
The Red Devils still need a few star players who can bolster their squad. There is no doubt that Bellingham could transform United into a powerhouse next campaign.
A trio of Bellingham, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes would be the best midfield for any team.
The young boy can make Ten Hag’s side more dynamic and exciting to watch.
Having said that, United must be much more concerned about their number nine spot. With Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the club in the middle of the season, Anthony Martial remained the only recognised striker.
The Frenchman has missed most of the campaign due to injuries, making him an unreliable option at the front.
The club signed Wout Weghorst on a loan deal in January as a stop-gap solution. The Dutch international does not have the quality to be United’s first-choice striker.
Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen look to be United’s primary targets as they eye a world-class number nine. However, getting any of them to the Theatre of Dreams will cost around £100m.
If Ten Hag has to choose only one marquee signing, he needs to go for a star centre-forward.
