Doc Martin star Martin Clunes in last ditch bid to stop traveller site being built next door to his farm
ACTOR Martin Clunes has made a last-ditch bid to stop a permanent traveller camp next door.
The star, 61, and wife Philippa have hired lawyers to argue that new-age hippy neighbours, Theo Langton and Ruth McGill, are not travellers.
The Clunes bought their Beaminster home off Mr Langton’s mum Georgia in 2007 for £3million.
Mr Langton and Mrs McGill live in a caravan on their own plot and want a permanent site.
Dorset council is under pressure to provide sites for gypsies and travellers.
A barrister report says the authority will be acting unlawfully if it grants planning permission.
It adds the council has previously stated the site, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, was unsuitable for permanent development, and has no basic services.
A council vote is due tomorrow.
