I’m a fashion stylist and green is the colour to be seen in this Spring – how to pick the right shade
CELEBRITIES have gone gaga for green this spring.
Brands including Victoria Beckham and Michael Kors have hopped aboard the trend after it proved a hit on the catwalks.
But many of us find green a nightmare to style, so here Abby McHale looks at the different shades and how best to wear them.
Khaki – Ashley Roberts
ITS flattering darker tone makes khaki one of the most popular shades of green.
Utility is a huge trend this season and this hue really plays into that – think combat trousers, military-style jackets and boots all in khaki.
Heart FM presenter Ashley, 41, shows it can be the focal colour of your look with this suit from Nasty Gal.
Keep it neutral with accessories and while khaki is a strong, tough colour, you can still make it glam with a fitted dress, worn with heels and a blazer.
Olive – Rochelle Humes
IF you want to go classy then olive is a great choice.
With her bardot midi from Pretty Lavish, TV presenter Rochelle, 34, lets the dress do the talking while keeping her accessories neutral.
Olive has a warm undertone, so if you have a fairer complexion, team it with soft, lighter colours. Darker complexions can incorporate darker shades for added intensity.
Lime – Charlene White
THE perfect shade for summer, lime screams holidays.
Loose Women’s Charlene, 42, shows how to also wear the hue when the weather isn’t scorching with this lovely jumper dress.
If you don’t want to go all out with dresses, skirts or trousers, get summer vibes by opting for lime green bags, shoes and sunglasses.
Forest – Holly Willoughby
FOREST green is often shunned unless it’s winter, but looks good all year round.
For spring/summer, pick swimwear, shorts and blazers in this darker shade for an understated look.
This Morning host Holly Willoughby, 42, is a big fan of green, and this Hobbs London dress is especially flattering on her.
Evergreen – Helen Mirren
THIS is the shade most people associate with green – and it looks great on all skin tones.
In this midi dress, actress Helen, 77, proves that bright, bold colours are for all ages.
Purple is opposite green on the colour wheel and is therefore a great shade to pair it with, as Victoria Beckham loves doing.
Neon – Heidi Klum
HIGHLIGHTER green may seem like a tough colour to pull off, but it can really bring out your complexion, giving you a sun-kissed look for the summer months.
If you’re unsure then a small pop of the shade, maybe shoes or a bag, is the perfect starting point.
Or if you want to go big like model Heidi, 49, try a slick tailored suit or a punchy midi dress. Wear with other lighter shades, such as a crisp white, for an on-trend summer l
