Shocking pics show steam engine crash through front of house in bizarre smash
RESIDENTS were left shocked when a steam engine crashed into the living room of a their home.
Witnesses said they saw the steam engine accelerate suddenly and collide with a building in Great Dunmow, Essex.
A man told the BBC that the crash had caused “significant damage to the property”.
He said the driver of the vehicle was “in a state of shock”.
Local reports say witnesses saw “steam and smoked coming out the bottom” of the engine, which appeared to be “having issues”.
Police and fire services were on the scene quickly after the bizarre incident at around 7pm on 21 April, but no one is believed to be hurt.
The area was cordoned off while efforts were made to free the vehicle.
Social media users reacted quickly after a photo of the crash was posted.
One person said: “You can’t park there mate”.
A Twitter user joked: “Very, very slowly…. They only had chance to completely move house before it hit.”
Another said: “He must have been steaming down the road”.
It is thought that the steam engine was on its way to the Saffron Walden Crank Up weekend steam show, which dates back to the 1970s.
