Two men killed in separate Oakland traffic accidents
OAKLAND — Two men were killed in separate traffic accidents in Oakland Saturday morning, one in the Pill Hill area and the second in the Oakland hills.
Police said a 51-year-old man from Alameda died after his Toyota Tacoma pickup truck crashed into the rear of a Mazda CX-9 SUV stopped at a traffic light. The collision occurred about 2:18 a.m. in the 2700 block of Telegraph Avenue, police said.
The impact of the crash forced the Mazda to collide with two other vehicles. The driver was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. His name was not released by Saturday afternoon. Occupants in the other vehicles sustained injuries, though police said Saturday that those people were in stable condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, police said.
The second fatality occurred at about 8:37 a.m. in the area of Joaquin Miller Road and Skyline Boulevard near Reinhardt Redwood and Joaquin Miller regional parks. A 27-year-old man was killed when a vehicle he was riding in crashed into a pole. No other information about the crash was immediately available.
The cause of these collisions are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
