A man who was living in CT and was deported is now going to prison for illegally reentering the country
A man who had been living in Connecticut was sentenced to more than two years in prison for illegally reentering the U.S. after being deported, according to federal authorities.
Julio Bayron-Arriola, 49, a citizen of Guatemala who was last residing in Stamford, was sentenced this week by U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to a total of 27 months in prison, according to federal authorities.
Authorities, citing court documents and statements made in court, said that Bayron-Arriola was “encountered” in the U.S. six times from 2009 to 2020 and “subsequently removed to Guatemala.” During those years, Bayron-Arriola was charged federally and convicted in the District of Arizona three times, federal authorities said in a statement. These included in 2010, when he was convicted of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and in 2012 and 2017, when he was convicted of illegal reentry, federal authorities said in the statement.
Bayron-Arriola was arrested by Stamford police in December 2021 and was convicted of a state threatening offense; he pleaded guilty in federal court to illegal reentry in November 2022, federal authorities said.
Bayron-Arriola has been in custody since his arrest, federal authorities said.
