My gender reveal was a total fail when the bakery got the cake wrong… but the answer was staring us right in the face

A COUPLE were left speechless when they cut open their gender reveal cake to find there was no colour inside – but the answer was staring them in the face the whole time.

Gender reveals are a big part of any prospective parent’s journey and Alyssa Quintos was looking forward to capturing the special moment on camera.

The mum-to-be had given a local bakery a note with her baby’s gender on and asked them to incorporate the respective colour inside a cake.

Then with her husband, she hoped to spend a romantic evening cutting open the cake and find out what sex their child will be. 

However, they were both confused after plunging wine glasses into the cake to find it was a plain sponge inside. 

Sharing the shocking moment on TikTok, Alyssa questioned: “What is it?

“Is it blue?”

Her husband replied: “No… I don’t.

“I think they gave us the wrong cake.

“It is yellow.”

Viewers were quick to point out that the icing on the OUTSIDE of the cake was a light blue, theorising that the baker didn’t realise how gender reveal cakes work. 

One said: “I feel like the outside of the cake is blue.

“They definitely messed up.”

Another joked: “Plot twist, the frosting was the gender reveal:”

A third said: “I think the blue outside means boy.

“They did it wrong.”

Alyssa tried to correct theories by saying the cake is blue, but most of her 28 million viewers weren’t buying it.

The parents-to-be contacted the bakery who apologetically offered them a replacement cake the next day, which had blue buttercream inside when cut open.

Viewers stood strong that the gender was staring them in the face the whole time.

Explaining the situation with the bakery, Alyssa said: “They were so apologetic about it.

“They made it right, they made me a new cake as soon as they could the next day.”

The bakery manager told the mum-to-be that a new worker didn’t realise she had to put blue colouring inside the cake, further fuelling theories that the blue frosting on the outside was intended to show the baby’s gender.

She added that her baby boy is healthy and the pair of them “are fine”.
