10 Killed, Over 20 Injured in ‘Suicide Attack’ on Swat CTD Police Station
At least 10 policemen were killed, and more than 20 others were injured in a “suicide attack on a police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.
Police said on Monday that at least eight officers had died and over 20 others had been wounded in a “suicide attack” on a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Swat’s Kabal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan.
Inspector General of Police for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan stated that security personnel were on “high alert” throughout the province.
So far, no individual or group has not claimed responsibility for the attack.
However, most of the attack has been carried out by the province’s outlawed militants Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The group has intensified its attack on a different region of the country since the end of the ceasefire in November last year. TTP mainly targets Pakistani police officers, officers, foreigners and even ordinary people.
Prior to today’s incident, there had been two explosions within the police station, which had destroyed the building, said District Officer Shafi Ullah Gandapur.
Meanwhile, Pakistani security agencies have ramped operations against militant groups and outlets nationwide.
