CT man allegedly driving over 100 mph in 25 mph zone in Groton charged with reckless driving
A Connecticut man was charged in Groton last week after police say they clocked him going over 100 mph.
The Groton Police Department said the driver, a 40-year-old Quaker Hill resident, was driving a Ford Mustang 104 mph in a 25 mph zone on Thursday around midnight.
An officer conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Allyn Street and Payer Lane in the Mystic section of the town heard the sound of a loud exhaust approaching the area before seeing the motorist in a Mustang negotiate a slight bend near Edgecomb Street. The officer then used a laser speed detection device and found the driver was heading north reportedly going 104 mph, according to Groton police.
The officer pulled over the driver and arrested him, charging him with reckless driving. He is scheduled to answer to the charge in New London Superior Court on May 5.
