A DIY whizz has revealed how she transformed a bog-standard IKEA cupboard into a showstopper for her hallway – and people can’t believe how little work it took.

Medina revealed that the makeover only involved taking off both doors and customising one with a £3.99 Etsy bargain.

Now people are rushing to the comments to call her ‘talented’ and vowing to try something similar in their own homes.

Known online as @grillodesigns, she regularly shares DIY tips and interior design inspiration with her 120,000 followers.

In a new TikTok reel, she said: “I don’t think many people realise this, but this unit in my entrance is actually an IKEA IVAR cabinet.

“All I did was remove the door, cut a diamond shape with my jigsaw and then stape fun in some cane material.

“And now it looks like a completely different piece of furniture!

“What do you think?”

During the 14-second video, Medina starts by removing both cupboard doors using an electric drill, before measuring out the diamond shape she wanted to cut out from one.

After marking this in pencil, she used a jigsaw saw to remove it.

Finally, she stapled the cane webbing to the back of the door, before securing it back onto her cabinet.

Below the video, she added: “Can I even call this an IKEA hack? All I did was remove the doors from this IVAR cabinet.”

Fans loved the speedy transformation, with the video gaining more than 24,600 likes and 360,200 views.

Shoppers can pick up the same pine IVAR cabinet, now priced at £85, both online and in their local IKEA store.

While Medina revealed in the comments that she picked up her cane webbing on Etsy, keen DIYers can grab this from various retailers, including eBay, with prices starting at just £3.99.

In the comments, DIY fans shared their reactions, with one writing: “Sorry… WHAT. This is stunning. I wish I had your eye for design!”

“I don’t understand how major companies don’t see how a simple change like this makes people want to buy their product WAY more,” commented another.

A third added: “‘All I did was’, it’s perfect!”

Someone else put: “You’re so talented!!!”
