THE disabled mother of a dogwalker said to have been killed by three schoolkids has today been rushed to hospital after “losing her rock”.

John Hackett, 36, died in Nuneaton on Wednesday morning after a brutal attack the night before, seeing a schoolgirl and two boys arrested on suspicion of murder.

It was John’s mum Christine Smith, 58, who tragically found his body at the top of the stairs in their home.

Along with being a coach driver, the “loving and caring” son also looked after Christine.

Her brother David Hambridge has today revealed the mum-of-one had been rushed to hospital after becoming “unwell and disorientated”.

It came just hours after the trio of 15-year-olds arrested were released on bail while police continued to investigate the horror attack.

David told The Sun Online: “My sister was rushed to A&E this morning, it’s all been too much for her.

“Me and my wife have been doing our best to look after her and comfort her but she’s just been staring blankly, like she’s comatose, and looked so unwell and disorientated.”

The 54-year-old explained that Christine was left “severely disabled” after a stroke that almost killed her nearly 10 years ago.

He continued: “John was her carer, he was brilliant with her but now my nephew’s gone and my sister’s lost her rock, and she can’t cope.

“She has been absolutely gutted by his death.

“Our lives have been turned upside down and this is a total disaster for our family. We are all absolutely devastated.”

On top of losing her only son, Christine also had to leave her house to shift in with David and one of her two beloved dogs – which John was walking when he was allegedly attacked – had to be taken to a canine fosterer.

David added: “Doctors are very concerned for her wellbeing, so are her family.

“We are expecting the worse but hoping she will pull through.”

David said John had phoned police himself as he struggled his way home after the alleged attack at Snowhill Recreation Ground.

He added that Christine was in “horrendous pain” after finding her son dead at the top of the stairs.

Warwickshire Police yesterday said they were continuing to investigate the incident.
