Bristol man dead, three others injured in Waterbury crash

A Bristol man has died and three women are hospitalized following a two-car crash in Waterbury on Saturday morning.

The Waterbury Police Department said officers pronounced 26-year-old Calvin Mackey Jr. of Bristol deceased at the scene after Mackey’s pickup truck and a sedan collided in the area of 829 Meriden Road at approximately 2 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the operator of the sedan, a 31-year-old woman, was transported to Waterbury Hospital where she is listed as in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The vehicle’s passenger, a 29-year-old woman, was transported to the same hospital after sustaining serious injuries. Police said she is considered to be in stable condition.

A 37-year-old woman who was a passenger in Mackey’s pickup truck was transported to Waterbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the department said.

The Waterbury Police Department Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. The department asks that anyone with information contact the unit at 203-346-3975.
