Dominguez was a student at UC Davis until last week, Davis police said.

Following the police update on Thursday, UC Davis put out a statement confirming that Dominguez is no longer a student.

“Dominguez was in his third year at UC Davis until April 25, 2023, when he was separated for academic reasons,” the statement read in part.

The first stabbing took place just two days later on April 27.

The arrest came after cops got multiple calls from witnesses on Wednesday who spotted Dominguez in the park wearing the same clothing the stabbing suspect was last seen in.

Davis Police Chief Darren Pytel said that the suspect was in possession of a backpack containing a large “hunting-style knife” when he was arrested.

Dominguez was taken in for questioning and was later booked into the Yolo County Jail on a weapons charge.

Officials have searched a home in Davis where Dominguez lives and, based on the evidence gathered, arrested him on two counts of murder for the deaths of David Breaux and Karim Abou Najm and one count of attempted murder.

“He had a backpack on, he was wearing the same clothing from the third attack, and he had a large knife in his possession,” Davis Police Chief Darren Pytel said.

“This is remarkable and our community should be proud of everyone who stepped up,” Pytel continued.

“I do believe they, and all the law enforcement personnel, especially the members of the Davis Police Department, who were involved in this investigation along the way, may have saved more lives.”

COMMUNITY ON EDGE

The brazen attacks all took place within one week, leaving the University of California campus shaken.

The first stabbing took place on April 27, when police found homeless man David Breaux with multiple puncture wounds on a park bench in the small town’s Central Park.

Two days later, Karim Abou Najm, a 20-year-old computer science major at UC Davis, was found stabbed to death in Sycamore Park, authorities said.

The horrific knifings continued when a 64-year-old woman was stabbed through her tent at a transient camp on Monday.

Kimberlee Guillory survived the attack and continues to recover from her wounds, police said.

The rampage rattled students at UC Davis, who began arming themselves with rocks as rumors of a serial killer in the area circulated, according to SFGATE.

“It’s eerie. At night the whole place is shut down,” UC Davis student Colin McCarthy told the San Francisco-based publication.

“As soon as it starts getting dark, no one is outside. I had a friend go home because they were so worried about what’s going on.”

McCarthy added: “Davis never sees stuff like this.”
