At least 8 dead and 13 injured in Serbia drive-by shooting one day after teen opened fire in school rampage killing nine
EIGHT people are dead and 13 others have been injured after a second mass shooting in as many days in Serbia.
Police said the 21-year-old suspect is still on the run following the Thursday night shooting.
The shooting comes one day after a 13-year-old boy killed eight fellow students as well as a guard in the first school shooting in Serbia’s modern history.
Just as the shattered country was coming to terms the horror, another mass shooting happened in Mladenovac, about 30 miles south of the capital Belgrade.
Cops believe the suspect aimed randomly at people during the drive-by rampage.
Unconfirmed reports say that the gunman is still on the run.
This morning, Serbian media said that special police forces had arrived at the villages of Mladenovac and Dubona, where the latest massacre occurred.
Photos from the scene show cops stopping cars at checkpoints as they try to locate the shooter.
A helicopter, drones and multiple police patrols also searched for the suspect in the area around Dubona.
Reports on local media say the man in his 20s started firing at people with an automatic weapon after having an argument with a police officer in a park.
He then proceeded to open fire at people from a car, killing at least eight people and wounding many more.
The school shooting, which occurred on May 3, was the first in Serbia‘s modern history.
Serbia dealt with its most recent mass shooting in 2013.
In that incident, a war veteran killed 13 people in a village in the central part of the country.
Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic called Thursday’s shooting “a terrorist act,” according to state media.
