Map shows which roads are closed for the King’s coronation in London
London will play host to King Charles III’s coronation tomorrow (May 6).
The historic occasion will see a swathe of Central London buzzing with activity, as The King and Queen Camilla travel from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey and back.
Their Majesties are set to follow a specific Procession Route through The Mall, Admiralty Arch and Whitehall, in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach and Gold State Coach respectively.
Given the scale of the event, numerous roads in London will be closed off from 5am on May 6, confirms City of Westminster Council.
Affected areas include near the Palace, Green Park, Victoria, Trafalgar Square and Charing Cross, Westminster and Waterloo.
Vehicles including cars, buses, coaches, vans, trucks, motorbike or bicycles will not be allowed into the restricted areas once the closures are in place.
So, it’s useful keep in mind if you’re travelling through the city this Saturday.
Additionally, there are parking restrictions in place from 7pm on Friday, May 5 on a number of roads for residents and visitors – with the full list of streets affected by them viewable on the council’s website.
Roads will begin to reopen from Saturday evening, following the coronation, the council website adds.
Note there are also some road closures affecting specific areas from 7pm on Friday, May 5, until 5am on Saturday May 6, too – they can be viewed on this map.
