Seventy-one-year old hit by car while crossing road in Paphos

Police on Friday reported that a 71-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car while walking in Geroskipou.

According to the police, the accident happened on Thursday morning around 10 am. The 71-year-old woman  suffered a pelvic fracture and a small head fracture, and is being treated at Paphos general hospital.

Paphos CID chief Michalis Nikolaou, reported that the accident happened at 10am, when a 32-year-old driver struck the woman on Griva Digeni Street, under circumstances being investigated.

The 71-year-old visitor from Greece appears to have been crossing the road at the time.The victim was taken by ambulance to hospital where she was kept for treatment in the operating room.

Her health condition, according to the treating doctors, is out of danger.

Police administered a breathalyzer test to the driver, with a zero reading.

Paphos traffic police are investigating the exacts causes of the accident.
