Their Brains – Sam Allardyce Explains Difference Between Premier League And Lower League Players

Allardyce has been roped in by Leeds for their last four games as they look to survive in the Premier League by the end of the campaign.

The Leeds players are desperate to get enough points in the last four games to avoid getting relegated from the Premier League.

Allardyce wants his Leeds players to use their brains and make quick decisions as that is the only way they can hope to thrive and survive in the top flight of English football.

The Leeds boss admitted that a player can be very skilful in the lower leagues but if he cannot be quick in mind, he will not make the grade in the Premier League.

Allardyce, reflecting on the power of players taking time to mentally prepare and think about their best performances, said in a press conference: “You play in the Premier League because you’ve got the best football brain.

“That’s why you play in the Premier League.

“It operates all your motor skills, your decision-making processes, so that’s why you play in the Premier League.

“You can have a much more skilful player in the lower divisions, but unfortunately, their brain doesn’t work as quickly as the lads who are playing in the Premier League.

“So they can’t adopt those skills as well as they can or should.”

Allardyce will hope that his Leeds players show those decision-making skills when they go to the Etihad this weekend.
