Ladies’ Junior Cup team go out to Old Conna

Commiserations to Karen Purcell and her Ladies’ Junior Cup team who lost narrowly to a very strong Old Conna team this morning (Friday 5th May).

Jacinta had a couple of players who were unavailable but was still able to field a good team albeit with handicaps a little higher than she might have liked in this scratch competition.  To make it even harder Old Conna had home advantage which proved to be decisive.

At home, Deridre Aherne & Mary Lockhart did what you would hope of your home pairings winning 3&1 and 6&5 respectively while in Old Conna Jennifer Moore lost 3&1 while Amanda Lawless went down 6&5.  In the end, it came down to the odd, away match with Mary Hutch all square after eighteen holes only to lose out on the nineteenth.

It has to be said that, even with the odds stacked against them, our ladies put up a great fight.
