These Bars Were Just Named the 50 Best in North America

There are thousands of bars across North America, from dives to lounges. But if you're searching for the best of the best, look no further. North America’s 50 Best Bars Academy just released its annual rankings today, with New York City establishment Double Chicken Please taking the No. 1 spot. 

Mexico City's Handshake Speakeasy landed at No. 2, making it the Best Bar in Mexico, while Toronto's Civil Liberties took Best Bar in Canada at No. 12. New York City's Katana Kitten earned third place overall.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, New York City came away with the most entries by far, earning 12 spots on the list. Mexico City landed in second with eight, while Toronto took four spots for third place. Cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, Oaxaca, and New Orleans each earned two entries apiece, while Puerto Rico's La Factoriìa represented the lone entry from the Caribbean.

The awards are voted on by 260 members of the Academy, comprising anonymous bar industry experts. They're meant to celebrate achievements in high-quality cocktails across the region.
