The leader of anti-monarchy group Republic and other members were released from custody after being detained for hours during King Charles's coronation, raising concerns over the police response. Republic said the detained members were released after nearly 16 hours in custody and that there was "no longer a right to peaceful protest in the UK". The police arrested the Republic leader and 51 others, stating they had acted following information that protesters were determined to disrupt the coronation procession.
