The number of forest fires is increasing in the spring due to carelessness, the most common cause of ignition
As temperatures rise in the spring, forest fires become more common. A large proportion of forest fires are caused by carelessness and, although the number of forest fires has decreased in recent years, caution, particularly with open fires, remains important.
According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, April this year was a warmer than average month in parts of Finland.
