The Maharashtra government, meanwhile, said Thackeray's threat was meant to pressurise speaker Rahul Narwekar but he would not succumb to it. Still, there is a sense of uneasiness within the ruling BJP and the Eknath Shinde group of Sena, after the SC asked the speaker to rule on the issue of disqualification, especially when the Shinde group's whip has been declared illegal.
