Firing Outside Islamabad High Court; Imran Khan Still Inside Court
A firing incident was reported outside Islamabad High Court as former Prime Minister Imran Khan awaits safe passage.
Imran Khan, the former prime minister, awaited safe passage when a shooting incident was reported outside the Islamabad High Court, Dawn Reported.
Confirming reports of the firing incident, Islamabad police said there were no casualties. “All policemen were safe. Search teams are checking the vicinity,” The Islamabad police tweeted.
“The firing took place at intervals,” he said. “It is even happening right now. I just heard five gunshots.”
Police have also stated that the area is being searched and that no fatalities have been reported concerning these incidents.
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan appeared at court for a bail hearing on Friday after the Supreme Court ruled unlawful his arrest this week that triggered deadly clashes across the country.
On Tuesday, Imran Khan was arrested, which led to violent protests across the country. As a result, more than ten people were killed, and at least 300 were injured.
Supreme Court declared on Thursday that Khan’s arrest was unlawful.
According to the court, the former premier is also exempt from arrest until May 17 in any case filed against him after May 9.
In the Al-Qadir Trust case, where Imran was detained on May 9, and the detention sparked violent protests across the nation, Imran has been granted bail for two weeks.
