As well as his singing career – having released three studio albums – Alexander is also a keen traveller.

He took a step back from Pointless to film his latest travel show, Alexander Armstrong in Sri Lanka, for Channel 5.

The three-part series sees Alexander head to the Indian Ocean to discover its beautiful golden coastline, and its historic culture.

While the Sinhalese areas in the central and south regions are popular with tourists, Alexander also heads to the less-travelled Tamil north.

The first episode sees him arrive in the fortress town of Galle, which was built by the Portuguese in 1588.

He also meets an elephant that has been rescued during a visit to a foundation that looks after the majestic animals which had been previously held in captivity.

This isn’t Alexander’s first foray into hosting a travel show, having previously heading to South Korea and Iceland for Channel 5 in 2022.

He also hosted Alexander Armstrong in the Land of the Midnight Sun for ITV in 2015.

Alexander has been joined by a string of guest hosts since his former Pointless co-host Richard Osman left the programme last year.

In February, it was announced that Andi Oliver, Gyles Brandreth, Nish Kumar, Lucy Porter, Ria Lina, Rose Matafeo, Sally Phillips, and Vick Hope would be helping him share pointless, but interesting facts with the nation.
