Tyler Wells Captures The Flag
There was no raising of the Jolly Roger Saturday night as the Baltimore Orioles shut out the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0. The victory was the result of a confluence of dominant pitching, the longball and highlight reel defense.
Tyler Wells (3-1) brought it in his seventh start of the season, holding the Pirates to just one hit and two walks while striking out eight over 7.0 innings. The eight strikeouts were a career high for Wells, who retired 20 of Pittsburgh’s first 21 batters and 17 in a row to earn the win.
Adley Rutschman (2 for 3, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 BB) hit a solo homerun in the first inning and Gunnar Henderson (1 for 3, 1 run scored, 1 RBI) did the same an inning later.

Adam Frazier and Austin Hays both went 1 for 3.
Anthony Santander (0 for 4) made the catch of the night with two on and two outs in the seventh when he snow-coned a catch at the right field scoreboard on a Miguel Andujar fly ball.
