The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reported on Wednesday that it had shot a drone having 15 Kg of drugs close to the international border in the Panjab’s Amritsar sector.

“A rogue drone from Pakistan violated the Indian airspace and was intercepted by BSF troops by shooting at it,” a BSF officer said, local media reported.

Two large parcels weighing 15.5 kg were discovered during the search operation close to Kakkar village in Amritsar.

On Wednesday, the BSF and senior Punjab Police officers would meet jointly in Amritsar to discuss various issues regarding border control and internal security.

Meanwhile, the police said that further search is underway in the area.

Amritsar is the second largest city in the Indian state of Punjab, after Ludhiana.

The Amritsar is the administrative headquarters of the Amritsar district, situated 217km north-west of Chandigarh, 455 km north-west of New Delhi, and 47 Km north-east of Lahore, Pakistan, with the international border only 28 Km away.
