I’m a size 16 and did an Old Navy bikini haul – the first set I tried is my new favorite, it’s 10/10 and was on sale
ONE fashion lover has decided it’s time she upgraded her swim wardrobe in time for the summer.
As a size 16, she wanted to help women with similar body types find flattering bathing suits, so she did a try-on haul.
YouTuber Carrie Dayton (@CarrieDayton) turned to Old Navy to find swimsuits that checked three boxes: made her feel confident, were affordable, and were size-inclusive.
The first bikini she tried included a $20 bright green one shoulder top in size XXL with a $24 high waisted bottom in size XL.
One of the best parts? She got both on sale for 40% off.
“OK we’re starting off on a great note. Honestly this is so cute,” she said in the video.
She loved the soft material on the set, the added coverage from the high-waist on the bottom, and the longer length on the top.
The fact that the top could convert from one-shoulder to bandeau was also a selling point.
“Right out the gate, I’m going to give this a 10/10. There’s nothing wrong with it. I love it. It’s amazing, I’d highly recommend it.
“It’s my new favorite swimsuit.”
Although Carrie admitted that it would be hard to beat this first one, she tried on a more tropical option next.
She bought both the $24 halter top and the $16 high-waisted bottom in size XL.
“This one is so adorable! I love the pattern.”
One of her favorite aspects was the keyhole center on the top and the halter neckline.
“This fits so well. And it shows all of the parts that I want to show but doesn’t show the parts that I don’t want to show.”
Carrie pointed out that the longline bikini top could take you from day to night, as you could pair it with denim shorts and hit the town.
Moving on to a different style, she tried on a $29 one-piece next, which she got in a size XL.
“OK you know what? I am pleasantly surprised by this. It is very comfortable,” she said, adding that she could play beach volleyball without feeling like “things are going to pop out.”
Turning around to give a 180-degree view, she admired the cut-out back and high-cut bottom.
“This is a good option if you want a little more coverage but you also want to feel cute and show a little somethin’ somethin’.”
Although most of the tops she had tried on thus far has been longer cuts, she went for a triangle bikini next.
The $22 stringy pink eyelet top had frills at the edge, and the $24 matching bottom had thick sides.
Before trying it on, she offered some inspiring words: “I have been feeling a little more confident about my midsection lately because like, whatever life is short.
“You don’t have to have any kind of body type or shape to wear this kind of bikini. You could wear whatever you want.”
Still, after slipping into it, she wasn’t the biggest fan.
“I think triangle bikini tops are just a panic attack waiting to happen for me.
“I don’t want to have anything pop out at any point. I’m very comfortable with the girls staying in and staying put.
“It feels like a lot is spilling out here and here,” she added, pointing to her cleavage and side boobs.
She did however, have good things to say about the bottom: “I love the color, I love the pattern, I love the rise on it. It fits really beautifully.”
The final option she tried offered a more sophisticated style, one that she noticed was reminiscent of a beloved TV villain.
“I was feeling very Parent Trap Meredith Blake vibes from this.”
She bought the $28 sporty style top in a size XL, and the matching $20 bottom also in an XL.
“This is an amazing option if you are a sporty gal and you like to swim a lot, if you like to keep everything compact and held in.
“I actually really love and recommend this one.”
