Nurse found dead by horrified colleague at work in new £100M hospital in Birmingham

A NURSE has been found dead by a horrified colleague at a new £100million hospital.

The male medic’s body was tragically discovered at the recently completed £97m Heartlands Treatment Centre in Birmingham.

The nurse was off-duty when he was tragically found dead on Wednesday last week.

He is being remembered as a “respected and valued colleague”, and an “amazing person”.

There is understood to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s sudden death.

The case is now in the hands of the Birmingham and Solihull Coroner.

A spokesman for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Heartlands, told BirminghamLive: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and friends of a dearly respected and valued colleague who sadly died at Heartlands Hospital.

“We are providing support to their family and colleagues in a number of ways, and we will support them closely in the coming days and weeks, to celebrate the life of an amazing person and professional.”

A colleague of the deceased added: “It’s really upsetting and a very highly charged situation.

“Everyone’s thoughts are with his family at this devastatingly hard time.”
