A Lap Around Antioch with Candice Martin – Pre May 19 & 20, 2023

We’re going racing this weekend and it’s a big weekend for me. I’m at the track’s table at the County Fair this week, doing some public outreach.

I’ll be handing out fliers and we’ll talk a little bit about the track on the PA system we’ll have there. Going to try to get a TV hooked up to show our footage. Just trying to spread the word.

Since we’re not running on Memorial Day weekend, it seemed like a good opportunity to go ahead and race twice this weekend.

Fair time crowds are usually a different crowd, and some people are watching racing for the first time. It’s an opportunity to make a first impression and get them wanting to come back again.

We’re bringing our faster divisions on Friday with Modifieds and Spec Sprints, but on Saturday we’re doing the Figure 8. The X just got cut on Sunday and is looking good. We’ve got some things in the works, a little extra money, I got trophies for the Top 3 and we’re going to see if we can get people’s attention with this race.

The County Fair is usually synonymous with a destruction derby. Unfortunately, the touring group just doesn’t want to bring the cars and it’s hard to start one from scratch. The Figure 8 can offer some crazy excitement via what happens in the X. It can get wild. I’m not sure where our car count will be on this, but I’m hoping we’re at double digits.

I’m looking forward to a little time off next week, because I’ll definitely be busy for the next few days. However, we’ll have the Soares Memorial coming up after that, which is also a special occasion. We’ll see what we can come up with on that race and just keep working on it.
