I hated my ugly countertops so transformed them in a very quirky way on a budget – it divided opinion but who cares?
A YOUNG homeowner has revealed how she transformed her kitchen on a budget using a very clever DIY hack.
Brenda hated the dark turquoise hue that her countertops had but didn’t want to fork out for new ones.
The black and white marble ones she had her heart set on cost a whopping £2,500.
So Brenda took matters into her own hands created a marble effect all by herself, sharing the process on TikTok.
DIY fans were blown away by her hack to get “black quartz” kitchen counters in seconds.
And the best bit? She executed the transformation with a £6 buy.
Brena used a bottle of white spray paint and pushed out the smallest spritzes to create a string-like piece of paint.
She moved her arm back and forth over the counters during the process to distribute the strings of paint and create an authentic marble look.
Once the white spray paint had settled on the counters and been glossed, it looks like she had installed brand – and prices – countertops.
Brenda admitted it was a risky move to throw spray paint around the room but was glad she did it.
She said “Come paint my ugly countertops with me.
“I had nothing to lose doing this project.
“I absolutely hated the green countertops.
“Highly recommend it if you’re on a budget.”
The whole process cost Brenda £160, a whopping £2,340 cheaper than she was quoted for her dream countertops.
Fellow home interior fans were seriously impressed by the result of her creativity.
One said: “The spray paint is so much better than when people try to paint veins on.”
A second gushed: “My face honestly dropped when you started throwing that spray paint around.
“But oh my God.
“It looks so good.”
A third penned: “That spray can trick is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.”
However, some viewers preferred the original colour of Brenda’s countertops and shared their opinions in the comments.
This prompted the homeowner to reveal her boyfriend preferred the before look, too.
