I’m a gardening whizz – my free hack will stop neighbours’ cats pooing in your garden & digging up plants
GARDENERS have been sharing a free hack that stops cats from digging up plants and pooing in your garden.
Savvy garden lovers have revealed that felines hate one household item so much that they’ll stay away from your flowerbeds.
The tip was discovered when one woman took to the Gardening UK Facebook group to ask for advice.
She wrote: “What do people do/use to stop cats digging up flower beds and pooping in their garden?
“I’ve just recently done a new flower bed out the front of my house and every night a cat has come and dug some of it up and used it as a toilet.”
Fellow gardeners rush to the comment to dish out their top tip – using orange peels.
One person wrote: “Orange peels have worked for me in the past. Put them down daily. It broke the cat’s habit and it stopped coming for its daily poo quite quickly.”
Another said: “Sliced lemons have worked for me. They don’t get washed away.
“I have been free of cats in my garden for just over two years. I understand they don’t like lavender plants either.”
A third added: “I use oranges and orange peels, they are fantastic! I’m a cat owner and we’ve had to do that on occasions to stop the cat going for the corner of the wall etc.
“They simply won’t go near it as they don’t like the smell. Not that any of these suggestions are cruel, but they’ll take one sniff at orange peels and walk off. Won’t harm them or bother them at all.”
If you don’t have oranges knocking around at home you can pick one up from the supermarket – usually for about 20p a piece.
