We need a clean funding bill and it can't wait: Call your member of Congress today
As Joan McCarter put it, Republicans are hellbent on destroying the economy. They drove up the national debt by giving huge tax breaks to the rich, and are now willing to let us default on June 1 if Democrats don't agree to atrocious budget cuts that would likely trigger a recession.
We don't have to agree to this, and all we need is just five House Republicans to pass a clean funding bill. There is a time and place to negotiate the budget, but not when the full faith and credit of the United States is hanging over our heads.
