Michigan-St. John’s at MSG highlights Gavitt Games

In the first year of the Rick Pitino Era, Michigan will visit St. John’s at Madison Square Garden in what could be the final year of the Gavitt Games.
Michigan made an official announcement of the game on Tuesday, and ZAGSBLOG earlier reported the game would be among eight or nine St. John’s games at the Garden during the 2023-24 season.
Last year the Gavitt Games ran Nov. 14-18.
Michigan is 1-4 against St. John’s, playing the last game in the series 23 years ago at the BB&T Classic in Washington, D.C. — a 97-83 St. John’s win. Four of the five meetings have been played on neutral floors as the lone campus contest was played at St. John’s, a game won by the Red Storm 82-77 on Jan. 29, 1995).
Jon Rothstein Tweeted the list of games on Monday, with an official release expected from the Big East this week.
