State police investigating deadly crash on I-95 in Stamford

A Massachusetts man was killed in a car crash on Interstate 95 in Stamford early Thursday.

Connecticut State Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Emmanuel Pierre of Worcester, Massachusetts. He was the lone person involved in the accident reported at about 12:24 a.m. in the area of Exit 8, state police said.

Driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue north on I-95, Pierre veered from the right lane of three into a metal guardrail off the right shoulder before crossing back over all three lanes and striking a concrete barrier in the median, according to state police. After the collisions, the vehicle ended up blocking both the center and right lanes, state police said.

Pierre was taken to Stamford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to state police.

The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded to assist at the scene. The crash is still being investigated.
