The Coastal Canyon League announced its all-league selections for baseball and softball for the 2023 season.
Royal senior Trevor Hansen was named MVP of the league in baseball and Simi Valley senior Matthew Cuccias was named Pitcher of the Year. Hansen finished the year with 20 hits, 20 RBI and eight doubles. He also went 5-2 from the mound with 90 strikeouts in 62 2/3 innings. Cuccias held an ERA of 0.39 and struck out 84 batters in 71 innings.
Simi Valley first-year coach Scott Vermette won Coach of the Year after leading the Pioneers to a league title.

SOFTBALL
Moorpark junior Madison Finnerty was named MVP and Camarillo senior Ainsley Berlingeri was named Pitcher of the Year. Finnerty batted .391 with 27 hits, 17 RBI, two doubles and two homers on the year, but was very good from the pitching circle. She finished the year 14-2 in 19 appearances with an ERA of 2.47 while striking out 111 batters in 96 1/3 innings.
Berlingeri went 11-0 with an ERA of 0.63 with a mind-boggling 125 strikeouts in 78 innings.
