Live water storage in 146 reservoirs in India has fallen by 6% in comparison to last year, according to the Central Water Commission. However, the live storage amounts to 121% of the average live storage over the last 10 years. Experts have stated that rainfall during the sowing period is critical for non-irrigated areas which account for nearly 49% of the net sown area in the country, that are essentially dependent upon monsoons.
