A CHEAP and speedy hack to rid your driveway of moss for just 60p has been revealed – and you might already have it in your cupboard.
This simple product could also solve annual patio cleaning woes as Brits set up their garden furniture amid summer heatwaves.
In a video posted on TikTok, Claire Appleton shared her mind blowing trick to prevent slimy green moss returning – for good.
The gardening whizz said: “This is a quick and easy way to kill moss on driveways and paths.
“And it smells cute too.”
Simply take some washing powder – Claire used Easy Inspirations Tiger Lily & Lotus Flower Biological Laundry Powder – and spread it along the mossy area.
This product – which can be bought for just £6 at Iceland – should save you on forking out for expensive weed killers and chemicals.
A 6.8kg box should allow for about 10 treatments if you have a sizeable drive – meaning it costs just 60p a go.
The gardening whizz used a seed spreader to distribute her washing powder but this is not necessary.
However she revealed she bought the tool off Amazon if anyone was interested in doing the same.
Some TikTok users were left with questions after watching Claire’s hack.
One wrote: “Do you power wash it or just leave it dry?”
“We left it to dry and then swept it up, it’s the only area that has survived winter moss free,” the home help guru replied.
Someone else praised her method and said: “My dad’s a gardener and swears by this.”
Another user suggested a different way to remove moss, they advised: “Bleach mixed with little of water, brush in, leave for 15 mins jet wash out.”
But Claire replied: “Doesn’t always work on tarmac because of the uneven surface. I did this on my stone like my grandma taught me.”
Someone else said you should simply jet wash your drive with no products.
“Jet washing doesn’t work as the spores need killing”, said Claire.
“Jet washing can spread them and add to the moisture content giving it an area to thrive.”
To which someone else responded: “This is 100 per cent true!”
However Claire did warn fellow homeowners to “keep pets away from it” while treating their property.
